Dalhousie , April 2019

Despite friends and family having education ties to this colonial gem in the Himachal hills, I'd never been to Dalhousie. And so, having wanted to make a trip for years and been to its neighbour of sorts, McLeodganj, I took my chances armed with a long weekend and set off.

Dalhousie has sadly fallen into that abysmal bucket of all mainstream hill stations infested with the lousy tourists who aren't there for the tourism, but for a weather break from the scorching heat of the plains.

Dig deeper however and climb higher in the paths of Bakrota, and the old world charm is unmissable. Dotted with one colonial holiday home after the other and fringed with Rhododenrons that challenge you not to stop and admire each one of them, the Dalhousie of old has a heartbeat still.
